Student R&D Opportunities

To search for a research opportunity that matches your experience and interests, you can sort the columns in the catalog alphabetically by clicking on the heading (Title, Center, or Advisors). To search the entire catalog by keyword, enter a keyword in the box below to narrow your search. To view the details of a particular opportunity, click on the click the title. Some research opportunities are limited to U.S. citizens only, so please pay particular attention to the Citizenship Requirements listed in the detailed view. Once you have identified a potential research opportunity, we suggest that you contact the advisor listed on the opportunity to discuss it. After you select an opportunity, you will be directed to select a specific advisor; once you have selected an advisor, the research opportunity and advisor will be connected to your application, and you can proceed to the next stage of the process.

USRA-NAMS Student internship at NASA Ames Research center

USRA's R&D Student Program supports projects at NASA Ames as part of the NASA Academic Mission Services (NAMS). The goal of these internships is to help advance the milestones of the project and to help complete the student's thesis.

The internships range in technical areas of:

  • Aeronautics
  • Earth Science
  • Data Science
  • Machine Learning
  • Robotics
  • Synthetic Biology
  • Biosciences
  • Environmental Analytics

The internships are offered part time during the school year and full time during the summer. The students will work alongside USRA and NASA PI(s) at the NASA Ames Research Center. We encourage students to continue their education in Science, Technology, Education and Math (STEM) fields either within the government, academia, or industry.
