Aeronautics: Flight Demonstration Remote Support Team Receives Excellence Award

April 2021

The Flight Demonstration Remote Support Team, led by Jinn-Hwei Cheng, Manager and Senior Engineer (USRA) has earned recognition from group's Donut of Excellence Award for, "outstanding remote support during the Buildup 2 Flight Test." The Award is shared with Irene Smith (NASA), Dan Liddell (KBR) and David Smith (KBR Wyle Services).

The Flight Demonstration Remote Support Team has been a critical part of all North Carolina flight demonstrations. They have supported the coordination, preparation, and delivery of required software to the flight demonstration team in a timely manner. In addition, they also supported all virtual end-to-end Airspace Test Infrastructure (ATI) system tests by confirming the systems are operating as designed, while capturing and tracking any software bugs as they occurred. While the flight demonstration team was deployed, the Remote Support Team worked early and long hours to support onsite ATI operators and monitored the health of ATI system in real-time. When issues occurred, they acted quickly and efficiently to solve them without causing any delays to the onsite flight testing. With data collection being one of the main pillars of the ATI Team, the remote support team supported ATI management and onsite ATI operators with rapid and accurate data analysis to pursue during the daily debrief. These are a few examples of the outstanding and professional work that is conducted by this team that exceeds the requirements.
